J. Mane Gallery is pleased to present its Colors International Online Juried Art Exhibition.

Alongside the notes of the musical keyboard and the letters of the alphabet, colors provide the building blocks of our emotions. It is not for nothing that we say we are ‘feeling blue’ or ‘seeing red’. Each color is subtly connected to a web of experiences and associations. Some of these are highly idiosyncratic: a particular yellow might remind us of a long-dead grandmother’s kitchen or a pair of boots we had as children. But others carry more universal meanings. Exploring the associations we have around colors is a way to get to understand ourselves and, as importantly, gives us a way to tell others who we are.

For this competition, artists were encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of color. The artwork varied from realism to surrealism to abstraction, and all media were accepted, including 3-D. All artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best inspired work. We received entries from artists in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Japan, Australia, India and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Each of our themed exhibitions, awards for First, Second and Third Place. The First Place winner for the Colors show is Jay Johansen for his acrylic painting, Lennon IV. Jay’s use of unexpected colors on the human portrait created a playful image of an ordinary subject. This is what set his work apart. Jay is also the Featured Artist during the show.

Taking Second Place is Danielle Rackowski for for her digital photo, Rose Duality. Danielle’s unique approach to the subject, and her composition make this a stand out image. And, Third Place goes to Telagio Baptista for his Untitled work. Telagio’s effective use of composition color and technique with the medium create the overall mood and visual impact of the image.

Honorable Mention awards were given as well. Honorable Mention awards go to Magda Betkowska for her mixed media, Erin Our Life Is The Creation Of Our Mind, Beate Blume for her acrylic, Woman In A Park, Lev Bogorov for his oil, Fall Spiral, Eddie Hall for his acrylic, Vector, Theodore Heublein for his oil, Carmel Sea Nettle, Yunan Ma for Landscape 4, made from merino wool, alpaca wool and copper, Hanna Supetran for her oil on canvas, Harmony, Eileen Terell for her oil, Purple Haze, Natalie Wetzel for Color Compulsion and Dagnim Joseph Yague for her oil, Magnim.
