“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.” ~ Maya Angelou

The concept of the show is “Bearing Witness” a term for living life in a way that reflects fundamental truths. Bearing witness is about getting relationships right. The show will explore the symbiotic relationship between humans and the natural world. At this critical time in history, we need to reorient ourselves in how we relate to each other and to the earth. Susan is planning to create paintings with oils, and mixed media art using sculpture and textiles.

Susan Hickman was born a twin in rural Ohio. She grew up in a small town and ending up studying graphic design and photography at Ohio University. She moved to New York for a year before making her way out to the New England area where she has spent the last 15 years.

Susan is an eclectic mixed media artist working with paper, acrylic, ink, found objects, graphic design, clothing design, photography and more. She enjoys experimenting with texture and color and finds making work of any kind, and exploration and an escape.
