James Mazza is a professional artist from Danbury, CT with over 37 years of experience. He works primarily with oil paints; bring to life landscapes, still lifes, and a variety of subjects from his daily life.
In 1977 James began an apprenticeship under Edward DeVoe’, during which time he traveled to West Point and painted with the cadets. His twelve year apprenticeship focused on the study of light and shading, highlighting, and the using different brushes for different effect. During this time, James also studied with Frank Mason at The Arts League in New York City, where he learned the style of Rembrandt, utilizing the old masters method to fine tune his paintings and combined various styles to create his own. James later studied at San Mateo College in California and the Wooster School in Danbury, Connecticut.
