My memories are like dreams. They are ephemeral and can slip away. Then, a fragment returns when I am thinking of something else. Asking me to explain my work is like asking a snail to give meaning to its shell. Art is my world, my personal universe.
When I create a painting or a work on paper a flash of experience conjures a blurry
snapshot from my subconscious: a dark November night, trees with swaying branches, salty lapping water, sun glinting on a rain puddle, crawling sand creatures, the solitude of a snowfall, a massive rock face with lichen. None of it clear-better that way.

Linda Louis’s compulsive, commitment to her personal vision, has garnered much
praise and attention. Her work hangs in many private and public collections and has been featured in the New York Times and as magazine cover art with
accompanying stories. She has been represented by a number of prominent New
York galleries. In addition to her art, her many credentials list her as a curator; art
events coordinator; originator of programs for arts organizations; instructor in
entrepreneurial studies at Hofstra Unviersity. Linda received her BA from
Adelphi University and MFA from Parson/New School.
