Fruitlands Museum is celebrating the past one hundred years by highlighting the richness of our diverse collections and sharing stories contributed by members of our community. The one hundred most popular objects in Fruitlands’ Transcendental, Shaker, Native American collections, landscape paintings and portraits will be on view in the Art Gallery and around the campus beginning on September 6, 2014. The exhibit includes fascinating examples of our New England past, some with poignant local flair. A soapstone bowl that is approximately 4000 years old and was found in a nearby field, Shaker furniture, Thoreau’s desk, a Lakota feathered bonnet and Albert Bierstadt’s painting, View of Mount Ascutnety from Claremont, New Hampshire are all fine examples of the rich history of New England that will be on display. We invite you to come share in this extraordinary exhibit.
