Brooklyn, NY – Svetlana Jovanovic, an international photographer renown for her psychological and uncanny interpretation of female identity, will participate in a one-night photography exhibition curated by The Espejo Organization for the Arts in Brooklyn. A celebrated Serbian-Dutch photographer who has worked with the United Nations and completed art projects around the world, Svetlana Jovanovic has been published by Vogue Italia, New York Arts Magazine, Beautiful Decay and many other art publications.
Based in Bushwick, The Espejo Organization for the Arts is an arts management organization committed to support and promote the artistic endeavors of mid-career and emerging international artists and creatives. “Svetlana is one of the talents that we are honored to represent. Her unique exploration of issues on female identity through fashion photography conventions is extraordinary.” said Kika Espejo, founder and director of the the organization. “Svetlana’s work provokes unease and ambiguity, encouraging the viewer to recognize their own objectifying practices and expectations of the female body”.
The Rabbithole Projects Gallery, an art space located on the waterfront of the Dumbo Arts District in Brooklyn, will host Jovanovic’s Waiting exhibition. “As a contemporary art space we pride ourselves on exposing the work of diverse New-York based artists. We are incredibly excited to host such an intriguing photographer,” said Shawn Lyons, Owner of Rabbithole Projects. “Our goal is to provide the space and community access for these talented artists to share their dreams, visions, and creations with inspired attendees. Jovanovic’s Waiting exhibition will be an unforgettable night.”
Waiting will take place from 7:30PM to 10:30PM, Friday, April 1st at the Rabbithole Projects Gallery in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
