Everyone has a story to tell, whether it’s from their own experience or a fictional one from their imagination. In this course, students will use inking techniques to bring the stories they have in their minds to life. By recreating an event from their own lives or creating a world from their imagination, students can express their individuality through the stories they tell visually. Instructor Tiara Trent will guide students in various mediums through lectures, demonstrations, visual presentations, and supervised application of course concepts including line, value, calligraphy, composition, perspective, concept development, and color theory. Throughout every class, students will have time to write in their journals to flesh out the concepts they want to portray visually. For students who don’t know what story they want to convey, there will be a list of writing prompts to use for inspiration. Once students determine their narrative, they will create basic thumbnail sketches laying out their composition to prepare for the final project. During this prepping stage, students will also determine whether or not they’d like to use color in their final project (alcohol-based markers). Final projects will be displayed at The Norwalk Art Space with a formal opening reception on December 15, 2022. Free and open to ages 13-18. Registration is required through our website: www.thenorwalkartspace.org/book-online (If the class is full, please email [email protected] to be added to the waitlist)
