Double Dutch: Tulips by Two Artists

INSTRUCTORS: JEANNE REINER & GAYE GROSSMAN FROM THE NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN

Materials included in class fee are: gold leaf, gold sizing and flowers.

Intermediate & Advanced

Students attending this in-person class will create a portrait of Dutch tulips with gilt embellishments, using watercolor and/or colored pencil. Using individual instructor guidance and demonstrations, students will be able to sharpen their drawing, color and composition skills.

This class will be held in-person at the GAS studio with physical distance protocols and CDC precautions

April 2, 10 – 4pm with an hour break for lunch.

Jeanne Reiner has exhibited at Wave Hill, the New York Horticultural Society and New York Botanical Garden through ASBA; Filoli, Woodside, CA; Newport, RI with the New England Society of Botanical Artists; the Flinn Gallery in Greenwich, CT; and shows, galleries and stores in NY, NJ, CT, FL and CA.

Jeanne received her BFA from The Cooper Union in New York City and completed post-graduate work at Yale’s Brissago Program in Switzerland and at Michigan State University in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She received her botanical artist certification from the New York Botanical Garden.

Ms. Reiner launched her studio in Manhattan and for 13 years provided design services to Estée Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld and the New York City Ballet.

Jeanne is the co-founder of the Tri-State Botanical Artists of New York Botanical Garden and serves on the board of the American Society of Botanical Artists. She is a fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) in the United Kingdom. She teaches botanical art at the New York Botanical Garden and workshops in different locations.

Gaye Grossman

Gaye Grossman began her art career custom painting furniture and murals. This grew into a decorative paint finishing company that she ran for 25 years serving private homes and businesses throughout New York and Connecticut.

In addition to her studies at Grand Central Atelier in New York City, she earned a certificate with honors in botanical illustration at the New York Botanical Garden. She has exhibited her work in the ASBA Annual International shows in New York and California, the Society of Botanical Artists Plantae ’21 Exhibition, the Carter Burden Gallery in New York City and the Connecticut Cancer Foundation in Old Saybrook, CT.

Gaye is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and is a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists in Great Britain. She is a co-coordinator of the Tri-State Botanical Artists of New York Botanical Garden.
