SmithKlein Gallery presents new works by French oil painter Gerard Mortier on Friday May 6th from 2-6 p.m. From the time he was a child, Gerard was intrigued with the beautiful but temperamental Opal coast. Mortier brings to life the region’s beaches, farms, fishing boats and winding village streets. Ambivalent weather and ever-changing light are captured through his masterful use of broad strokes and vibrant colors. Gerard paints as the light of the moment inspires him, and he always brings his easel wherever he goes, though the coast is what inspires him most. The show will run through the end of the month.
