The bedroom of the child who has struck out on his own. The little bistro with white lights in the window where he proposed. The kitchen in which you shared a final meal. The corner she walked around the last time you ever saw her. The spot on the beach where you met. These may be some of the Sacred Spaces/Favorite Places of our lives.

The concept of Sacred Spaces/Favorite Places includes the places that are personally sacred to us as individuals and the communal or organized spaces where we gather with others who share our faith, belief system or ideology. The concept extends to our favorite places – the locales, rooms, sunny spots that bring a smile to our faces. And then, the intersection of ideas – for some the sacred space is also a favorite place.

In this exhibit, artists are asked to communicate the sacred and special qualities of a physical space to the viewer. An accompanying written piece should be submitted; however the piece should convey the artist’s feelings of the sacred and singular on its own.
