The Walters Art Museum presents New Eyes on America: The Genius of Richard Caton Woodville.
Richard Caton Woodville (1825–55) spent his professional career in Europe, studying in Düsseldorf under the direction of Carl Ferdinand Sohn. He had a limited, but intense career in which he produced less than 20 paintings. These works went on to become icons in American genre.
