On Friday, November 11, 7:30pm, the Poné Ensemble for New Music will present a program of modern classical music at the Arts Society of Kingston (ASK) at 97 Broadway. The program will complement ASK’s November Members Exhibition, “Off the Square: Irregular Shapes” and explore ideas of creativity in both music and the visual arts. The concert will begin with “Three Pieces in the Shape of a Pear” for piano duo, composed by the celebrated French composer, Erik Satie, followed by works by American composers, Katherine Hoover, Chris Weait, and Irving Fine, and by Robert Ronnes, from Norway. Engaging both experienced classical music lovers and those new to the genre, this program features the intriguing sounds of Ensemble’s wind instruments – flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon – as well as horn and piano, in a wide range of compositions written between 1903 and 2013. Admission is $15. Refreshments will be provided.
