Arizona is the area of “five C’s”: copper, cattle, cotton, climate, and citrus. Copper is the most important mineral export of Arizona and defines the area’s history and economic status. Other mineral such as ores – silver, gold, and turquoise have a significant importance in the museum in beautiful displays and historic references.Other valuable minerals include hematite used in manufacturing to the chalcedony, jasper, and jade used for decoration.

The Wickenburg area is rich in the precious museum minerals and ores. Vulture Mine a very popular gold mine area is located about eight miles southwest of the Museum. Other mines in the nearby Vulture are posted and maps provided at the information areas.
