As the January cold begins to settle in around New England, Worrell Smith Gallery is pleased announce the opening of BRIGHTS, an exhibition focusing on the work of 5 contemporary Connecticut-based artists working in vivid palettes.

The show includes colorists Bob Gregson, Carlos Davila, Tammy Winser, Jana Ireijo, and Matthew Best.

Incorporating the mediums of wall sculpture, painting, and photography, BRIGHTS highlights the capacity of color to enliven space and human emotion, even when surrounding environments are harsh and inhospitable.

“BRIGHTS is an oasis,” says Greg Smith, Director. “The effect of color is observable in the human condition and that, ultimately, gives the artist the power of influence. These artists have wielded that sword with incredible reverence and humility.”

The works in the show cover the abstract and representational. Each artist demonstrates an approach to color that inhibits convention and allows the piece to converse.

BRIGHTS opens on January 16th, 2015 from 6-8:30PM at Worrell Smith Gallery. The public is invited to join the artist-attended reception for drinks and hors-d’oeuvres. The show will continue on through February 15th.

Worrell Smith Gallery is located at 611 Riverside Ave, Westport CT 06880. They can be reached via their website at www.worrellsmithgallery.com.
