Jim Bensman has an instinctive gift for capturing the essence of a place in the moment. Like visual meditations, they suspend these instants for us to appreciate and contemplate. The calm and natural atmosphere of his works, whatever the subject, evoke a sense of intense familiarity and generosity which openly welcomes and envelopes their audience rather than arouse and distance the viewer.
