An Artistic Journey: The Making of the Hudson River Portfolio

In this gallery talk, Nicole Simpson will trace the creation of the Portfolio and examine the collaborative relationship between artist and printmaker.

Nicole Simpson is a PhD candidate at The Graduate Center, CUNY and currently works at The Baltimore Museum of Art where she is cataloging The George A. Lucas Collection of 15,000 19th-century prints. She previously worked as a print specialist at The New York Public Library and Christie’s and taught the history of printmaking at The Cooper Union.

Ms. Simpson is author of the essay, “The Hudson River Portfolio: A Printed Journey along America’s Most Majestic River” which appears in the exhibition catalog and is available for purchase in the Gift Shop at Boscobel.

The Gallery Talk is free with your paid admission to the house or grounds.
To enjoy a guided house tour before the 1pm Gallery Talk, please plan to arrive between 10am and 11:45am. You may also take a house tour after the gallery talk (last tour at 4pm).
