Gala Opening for the 56th Anniversary Exhibition
The Gallery on the Green’s 56th Anniversary Show will be on exhibit from July 8th to August 7th. This is an exhibition of fine art by the 100+ members from one of Connecticut’s longest running artist guilds.
Also on exhibit is fine art photography by Richard Alan Cohen in a solo show entitled, “Objectives of Desire: Vignettes.” What catches our eye through a store window? What syncs with our desires? Light, color, and style, all coalesce to trigger a potential buyer’s psyche. “Vignettes” – artful compositions of items for sale – are carefully assembled by storefront designers to establish an atmosphere that attracts our attention and beckons us into the shop to indulge. In all these images, Cohen aims to document the original intent of the designer to attract the shopper, while framing and developing the images to emphasize what it is that seduces our senses.
Cohen lives and works in the South End of Boston and on the Farmington River in Barkhamsted. He graduated from Bowdoin College and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and has had a career as a biomedical researcher. Cohen is a juried member of Gallery on the Green in Canton and Galatea Gallery in the South End of Boston where he exhibits his photography in group and solo shows. More of Cohen’s work and contact information are available on his website: www.Troutlier.com.
Come view the creativity and talent of diverse local juried artists in an intimate exhibition space. The exhibit opening is a wonderful opportunity to view the art and meet many of the artists in person. Please join us for the gala reception on Saturday, July 9th from 6:00-9:00 pm. The reception with refreshments is free.
