Now that you’ve mastered the concept of felting over a single resist to develop a hollow form, whether a felted slipper or a pod, it’s now time to build surface texture and dimension.  Not only will we add multi-layered resists to our form, we will also design our piece using collages of silk chiffon patches and various luxury fibers like locks and raw silk.  Learn how to incorporate the shibori technique for added surface design.  Use these techniques and create a beautiful sculpted wall hanging or a one of a kind felted bag.
Skill level: beginner

Local artisan, Justine Moody, has had a passion for working with fibers and clay since the day she discovered handcrafting. She is a fine art graduate from Pratt Institute and for over 10 years, owned a bright and bustling studio that nurtured the creativity of others by introducing them to two of her favorite mediums. Over the past few years however, Justine has focused her work on the grounding techniques of traditional wet felting using natural fibers and hand dyed fabrics. Justine’s current work consists of both non-functional three-dimensional pieces as well as an ethereal collection of nuno felted wearable art pieces and tapestries.
