M Gallery is pleased to present “Deeply Rooted” featuring Raymond J. Steiner, William P. Duffy and Patrick D. Milbourn. The show will focus on the interpretive process and individual expression that becomes a work of art.
Raymond J. Steiner composes his landscapes alla prima – wet on wet – to capture a spontaneous impression. He wields a palette knife for most of his work, allowing a strong sense of physical interaction with the paint.
Steiner is an editor, art critic, author, and the co-founder of Art Times. He is a member of the American Society of Aesthetics, the International Association of Art Critics, the Salmagundi Club, The Hudson Valley Art Association, and the Woodstock Artists Association. He is listed in Who’s Who, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the East. Raymond’s exhibited solo and en group at the National Arts Club, The Karpeles Museum, the Schoolhouse Theatre and galleries in the Hudson Valley and New York City.
William P. Duffy is both a landscape painter and a marine painter. He is a grandmaster of the elements of painting using the authenticity of different effects of light and atmosphere and deft, expressive brushwork.
Duffy is a Fellow in The American Society of Marine Artists and a member of The Oil Painters of America. He is represented at the Noyes Museum of Art; Spartanburg Art Museum; and the New Bedford Art Museum and has exhibited at The J. Russell Jinishian Gallery; The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport; Quidley and Company; Christina Gallery; The Century House and J.M. Stringer Gallery, among others.
Patrick Milbourn’s sense of moodiness is felt by his expression of coloration and muted sensibilities. He coaxes his subjects – whether figures or landscapes – only to that point where he feels they are “complete”.
Milbourn’s award-winning work has appeared in many publications – The New Yorker, Sports Illustrated, Forbes, Time Magazine, the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Flying Magazine, Golf Illustrated, as well as book jackets for Ballantine, Fawcett, and Random House. Solo and group shows include the Pastel Society of America, the Salmagundi Club, The Society of Illustrators, the Director’s Guild, American Academy of Arts and Letters, The National Academy of Design, The National Arts Club, among others.
Join us for the Opening Reception on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 6-8pm.
