The Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth is considered a premier museum of Western art, with works by two of the most popular artists of the time, Fredric Remington and Charles Marion Russell. The plan however was to found a museum of American Art and heritage. The collection offers more than 300,000 works by artists, sculptures and photographers that depict the landscape and often times harsh life of the rural west.

The museum houses a rare group of American painting from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including works by Frederic Church, Martin Johnson Heade, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, and William Merritt Chase Stuart Davis, Charles Demuth, Arthur Dove, Marsden Hartley, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Non-Texan’s recognize the names of these great American icons and flock to the growing collection of fine art.
