Instructor: Matthew Murphy
Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm | June 20 – 24

Working both abstractly and non-objectively, students will advance their understanding of composition, space, and movement in relation to ideas such as narrative or sensation. Students will develop a unique body of work by abstracting from observation and imagination. Projects will be designed to generate and explore ideas through drawing. A range of materials will be used including as charcoal, ink, graphite or acrylic. This exploration will be deepened by relating one’s work to our long history of drawing by looking at artists such as Kandinsky, Malevich, Pollock, Hesse, etc. Some drawing experience is helpful but not required.
*this course may be taken for 1.5 credits; additional fees, pre-requisites, and requirements apply. Please contact the Continuing Education Office first to confirm eligibility before registering for credit. Montserrat Students should register via campus cafe.
