Workshop days are Mon, Tue and Wed Oct 12, 13, 14, 2015. 10am-1pm
The 3 day hands-on beginner workshop will take students through the process of developing a 3D design for 3D printing with Shapeways. Students will learn how to use simple and basic 3D design software such as Autodesk Tinkercad and Meshmixer to create a 3D print ready design over the course of the workshop. These programs are simple and easy to learn and will help students prepare their ideas for 3D printing. Shapeways is a New York City based 3D printing company which specializes in high quality 3D prints using quality materials such as gold, silver, platinum, steel, brass, bronze, wax, porcelain, plastic, nylon, and colored sandstone, to name a few. After the workshop has concluded, students will have the opportunity to upload their 3D prints to Shapeways for 3D printing at their own expense. The workshop will conclude for a final meetup session 3 weeks after the last working day in order to discuss and critique the 3D printed work.
