The Guild of Harwich Artists is now entering a fifth decade providing art opportunities for artists and art lovers. The goal of “What is Art? Join Our Art Playground! ” is to combine the interests of veteran members with the lively involvement of new members, friends, neighbors, and families. The Guild regards ArtWeek as a way to engage members of our community who may never have done art-making, but always enjoy experiencing visual and performing arts.
In addition, ArtWeek offers multi-generational and handicapped accessible venue for residents who may be grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends to partner with children to make art that crosses generations. “The ‘Art Playground Workshop – Put Your Finger on it!’” would use 6 workstations with different non-toxic materials for finger-painting, pointillism, daubers, sponges, stamps, collage materials, various art-making tools, and more.

Mentors would provide one or more images (e.g., and turn the image into a picture. To jump-start participants, there would be examples of fine art (ex. Georges Seurat) and contemporary art (TBD) that uses the same or similar media as an example, for a comparative showing of a finger-painting (example) next to a fine-art piece.
