INVESTIGATING IDENTITY, the 2018 Kreft Juried National Exhibition, will examine our notions about the formation of the self. What are the constituent parts of “identity” and how do we understand and represent them? How much of an individual’s identity is personal and self-constructed and how much of it depends on something socially created? How do our current conceptions of self, of soul, of personality resemble or differ from those of earlier periods?

Prints, drawings, paintings, photographs, digital images, sculpture, fiber art and video are eligible.

The artist chosen as “Best of Show” by the juror, Nancy Thayer, will receive a solo exhibition in the Kreft Gallery at Concordia University Ann Arbor in the 2018-2019 gallery season.

Nancy Thayer has work in numerous museum collections including the Detroit Institute of Arts, and in over 200 private and corporate collections throughout Europe and the U.S. She is on the faculty of the University of Michigan and serves on the executive board of InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit.

Deadline for submissions is February 2. Entry fee is $25/2 pieces. The exhibition runs March 6 – April 8 with a reception for the artists March 23, 7-9 pm.
