Call To Artists:
Southwest Surrealism/Surreal Southwest: A Juried Group Exhibition at Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery

Exhibition Runs: June 7 – July 8, 2024

Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery invites artists to submit entries for a juried exhibition focusing on Surrealism and the Southwest. This exhibition, titled “Southwest Surrealism/Surreal Southwest,” will explore the past, present, and future of Surrealism.

In commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Andre Breton’s inaugural Surrealist Manifesto, the YC Prescott Art Gallery will showcase the historical engagement of Surrealist artists in Northern Arizona, juxtaposed with contemporary Surrealist practitioners.

Situated in Prescott, Arizona, the YC Art Gallery is near the surreal landscapes of Sedona, once home to Surrealist luminaries Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning from 1943-1957.

This exhibition will be juried by the esteemed artist Amy Ernst, granddaughter of Max Ernst. Additionally, the exhibition will include original artwork by both Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning, generously loaned by The Capricorn Hill Center for Surrealism, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Capricorn Hill, the Sedona residence of Max and Dorothea (https://www.surrealsedona.com/).

The call is open to emerging and established artists aged 18 and above, working in all mediums.
Submissions must be sent through our submission platform:
www.yavapaicollegeartgallery.submittable.com/submit.

The submission fee is $25 for three images, and the juror for this exhibition is Amy Ernst.
