SELECTION PROCESS
Exhibitions proposals are selected through an open proposal process or through an invitation to artists. Artists interested in displaying their artwork may submit an exhibition proposal via this form for consideration by the City. If your proposal is selected, you will be contacted to discuss future dates, deadlines, and any additional requirements. Criteria to be considered during the selection process include, but are not limted to:
Artistic skill demonstrated
Creativity and originality
Spatial capacity
Schedule availability
Venue appropriateness
Completeness of application
The City retains the authority to make the final decision on which artworks are accepted for exhibition.
CURATORIAL PROCESS
The City of Santa Clarita remains curatorial authority over the placement of artwork on exhibit. Exhibitions will be scheduled, organized, and installed by City staff.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS
City staff will curate, install, light and provide art labels for exhibiting artwork. Supplies, equipment or props not part of the City’s regular inventory must be supplied by the artist. All hanging artwork is required to be properly wired upon delivery. Hanging artwork which is not properly wired will not be accepted.
ARTWORK HAND-DELIVERY AND PICK-UP (SHIPPED ARTWORK NOT ACCEPTED)
Artwork cannot be mailed. Artists are required to hand-deliver all artwork. Artwork cannot be withdrawn from an exhibition by the lender at any time during the exhibition.
SALE OF WORK
Artists are responsible for the sale of their own artwork. The City nor City employees will be responsible for the sale of any artwork. In the event the City receives a purchase inquiry, the City will pass along the interested buyers information to the artist. No comission will be due.
ELEGIBILITY
This project is open to all artists, regardless of race, color, religion, natural origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disability. Artist groups are eligible to apply, including teams of artists from multiple disciplines.
