Open Call to Artists
The El Paso Art Association invites artists to submit work for the 52nd ARTS International 2019 Juried Art Exhibit. The competition is open to both EPAA members & non-members, with over $5000 to be awarded in prizes.

ARTS International 2019 will take place at the historic El Paso International Museum of Art.
It is a grand and impressive venue that showcases artwork beautifully with its white walls and high ceilings.

Dr. Victoria Ramirez, Director of the El Paso Museum of Art will be selecting prizes for all EPAA Signature Awards this year, including “Best of Show” for $1000.

Prior to Dr. Ramirez’s appointment, she served as the Director of the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, Texas. At the Bullock Museum, she led initiatives that increased revenues, private donations, attendance, and membership and oversaw a $5 million digital outreach initiative that included a new website and in-gallery media experiences. Dr. Ramirez also served as the Education Director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston where she increased support and developed programs and projects that engaged an increasing number of adults, families, and school audiences.

Appointed Director of the El Paso Museum (EPMA) of Art in January 2017, Dr. Ramirez has led staff in several initiatives including broadening the scope of exhibitions and programming, resulting in increased attendance, and renovating the museum’s galleries and public spaces. Of note is the reinstallation of the permanent collection galleries, scheduled to open in September 2019. Under her leadership, EPMA has received local and national recognition, including receiving the prestigious Medal of Honor award from the Institute for Museum and Library Services in 2018.

Her work received recognition from the American Alliance for Museums, the Texas Association of Museums, the National Art Education Association, and the American Association for State and Local History. She has authored several publications, notablySeeing Texas History: The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. She holds degrees in education and art history.
