March 23 – April 30, 2012 Artist Reception: Friday March 23, 5 – 7 PM Matt Haffner and Travis Childers A Slight Spectacle and Naturally Inorganic Pentimenti is pleased to present two solo exhibitions of new works on paper by Matt Haffner and mixed media work by Travis Childers. Matt Haffner’s work explores ambiguous narratives of characters and their counterparts on the edge of society. Using urban landscapes as both setting and aesthetic component Haffner takes inspiration from film noir, graffiti, pop art and comic books. Travis Childers’ work deals with the relationship between human beings and nature. His work is comprised of everyday materials, which he transforms into new objects. This body of work, Brickscapes, explores an idea about man-made landscape versus natural landscape.
