Roger Mudre: Full Circle
Heather Gaudio Fine Art
Oct. 25, 2024 - Nov. 29, 2014
Heather Gaudio Fine Art is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition Roger Mudre: Full Circle, on view from October 25 through November 29. This is Mudre’s first solo exhibition at HGFA and will feature his paintings and works on paper. The public is invited to attend an opening reception for the artist to be held on Saturday, October 25th, from 1 to 4pm.
Mudre’s work explores the concept of infinity as it relates to the continuum in our every day life, from microcosms in cellular growth to grander celestial bodies that fill the universe. Whether seen or invisible to the naked eye, these forms inspire Mudre’s imagination and he contains them in a square shape to suggest an equal perpetuity in all dimensions. Applying metallic leaf to a prepared surface, Mudre layers his work with color glazes, adding and removing layers with brush, rags or scrapers to create aureoles, coils, halos and other similar forms, achieving a depth in tonality. The effects are beautifully luminous works that offer contemplative respites for the viewer. Although abstract in composition, these forms are grounded in familiar imagery found in nature, rendering an inspiring reference point to the imagination.
