It’s Your Move, an exhibition by Laura Sturtz, will be on display at South Side Gallery in the Good Dad Studios Art Complex through October. This is a must-see exhibition for chess fans and players!
Sturtz designs and creates her chess sets utilizing a variety of materials including various metals, ceramic, wood and more. Laura is a strong promoter of peace and believes that all wars should play out on a chessboard. This exhibition will be the largest display of her chess sets shown at any one time. Laura Sturtz, award winning Austin based visual artist, creates artwork ranging from jewelry to small endangered species sculptures, to public art sculptures. Sturtz, former faculty member at Austin Community College, taught for fourteen years in the Fine Arts Department. She has exhibited in local, statewide, national, and international venues. Laura recently completed an artist residency in France at Atelier A.I.R Vallauris where she developed her series of sculptures representing endangered species.
Additionally, three of Laura’s chess sets will be on exhibit at the World Chess Hall of Fame in St. Louis. https://worldchesshof.org/

Open to the public also on Third Thursday October 17, 2024, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM and by Appointment!
Parking and Entrance -The entrance to South Side Gallery faces the parking lot on the south side of the building. (by the pink railing) Wheelchairs need to enter through the main entrance. (There are stairs to South Side Gallery’s outside door)
