Burchfield Penney Art Center invited Baltimore artist Philip Koch to serve as its Artist in Residence for 2015-17. Koch, originally from nearby Rochester, NY traveled frequently to Buffalo to paint landscapes in areas where the famous 20th century American artist Charles Burchfield like to work.
In addition to showing his own paintings and works on paper, the museum asked Koch to create into his exhibition drawings by Burchfield from the museum’s collection that influenced him.
