Shoebox Projects is pleased to be part of The Spring 2019 Brewery Artwalk at The Brewery Arts Complex in Los Angeles, CA on April 6 and 7, 11 am to 6 pm both days. Two installations will be running in the Shoebox space in Unit 3.

In the Shoebox Projects’ main space is Dani Dodge’s love song to the Josha Tree, “My Ugly/Beautiful Friends”. Dani deconstructs the Joshua Tree spikes into separate stories of survival, love, and loneliness. She deconstructs photos of the plants into a scribbled S.O.S. on their behalf. And she constructs a powerful installation that shows ugliness and beauty are as symbiotic as the Joshua Tree and the yucca moth.

Meanwhile, in The Closet at Shoebox Projects, visitors can explore Terry Arena’s “Indicator Species”. Detailed renderings of bees inspired by Terry’s research into colony collapse disorder(CCD) became new installation work. Working in repetitive themes and linked patterns based on binary code, “Indicator Species” represents that research.

Also exhibiting in the Shoebox loft area are Catherine Ruane, Steve Seleska, Debby and Larry Kline and Oscar Moreno. Be sure to visit 660 South Avenue 21 #3, to see the exceptional work of these artists.
