In connection with the exhibit We Walk in Their Shadows, on view in the Mary Sommer Room through June 17, artist Gowri Savoor discusses her work.

Gowri Savoor is a British-Indian visual artist currently living and working in Vermont. Her practice includes sculpture, painting, and works on paper. She is dedicated to teaching and bringing art to the community, and she believes passionately in the power of participatory community art events. Gowri has been a teaching artist for over 17 years and is the co-founder and artistic director of Vermont’s River of Light Lantern Parade. Her lantern-making residencies, culminating in celebratory, after-dark processional events, are popular statewide, regionally, and internationally.

This event is presented in connection with The Confluence Project, an experiment in creative placemaking organized by Vermont Performance Lab and Windham Regional Commission.
