May. 11, 2016, 12:00 pm
The CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) is pleased to announce the 2016 Annual Youth Arts Exhibition.
Located at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art in Downtown Los Angeles’ historic Gallery District, the Youth Arts Exhibition provides a unique opportunity for young arts students to showcase their work in a professional setting to an audience of real-world artists, collectors, and critics.
The Community Arts Partnership (CAP), a program of the California Institute of the Arts, links distinguished teaching artists to the diverse communities of Los Angeles County through tuition-free, after-school, summer, and school-based arts programs for youth. Classes are led by CalArts alumni and faculty, supported by student instructors. Now in its 26th year, CAP serves thousands of students ages 6-18 in 23 community-based classes and 50 in-school classes across a 1,000 square-mile radius of Los Angeles County. CAP has served as a model for other arts organizations locally and nationally, and has won numerous awards including the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards, presented by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities.
The Annual Youth Arts Exhibition will showcase visual art, graphic design, photography, creative writing, and animation created in the following 2015 – 2016 CAP programs:
● CalArts Digital Media Program
● Santa Clarita Valley Photography Program
● Fiat Lux Saturday Photography Program
● Self Help Graphics & Art Media Mashup Program
● Self Help Graphics & Art From A to Zine Program
● Newhall Elementary School Art Pilots Program
● Sony Pictures Media Arts Programs
Admission to the exhibition is free. The Artists’ Reception will feature a live musical performance by current CAP students, an interactive art activity, and refreshments.
