Faked News
Walter Wickiser Gallery
Sep. 2, 2024 - Sep. 27, 2017
Walter Wickiser Gallery is pround to present an exhibition of recent paintings by Mally Khorasantchi, entitled Faked News, from September 2nd to September 27th, 2017. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, September 7th, 6pm – 8pm.
Khorasantchi was inspired by the space between order and chaos, which is polar opposite exist in the natural world and human experience. She utilizes boldly painted images of symbols, lines and shapes as her unique visual language. She always seeks to convey chaos and fragmentation in varying degrees. The paintings reflect her interests in rhythms, beauty, remnants as well as discord found in nature and man-made.
In 2008, she began to combine photography from family archives into her paintings. With her recent series “Faked News”, she has expanded the theme to include photo fragments from modern and contemporary fashion shoots to create a unusual visual. “Her mixed media works are representations of our collective human existence – a reality that is unlike any that has come before – a perpetual jumble of morals and morass that is impossible to ignore.”
