“Transformation is a metaphor for the ceramic journey I’ve taken over the last 40 years. I could not have imagined what my work would look like when I began. My wheel thrown drinking vessels, teapots, creamers, jars and plates are enhanced by pattern, facets and textures. They are fired in a wood burning kiln, where the sun’s energy stored by a tree is released as heat that physically and chemically transforms the clay into a hard ceramic material. As the kiln is stoked, flames lick the pots and leave nuances of color and texture on the pieces. The surface of each piece is unique, a memento of the transformative power of fire.” Barry Krzywicki
