Pathways Public Art Celebration: Artists Walk & Concert
Arlington Public Art
Sep. 15, 2019, 03:00 pm
On Sunday, September 15, the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture will celebrate this season’s temporary public art installations along the Minuteman Bikeway from 3 to 6 pm. Activities include a walking tour at 4:30 with 4 participating artists (Freedom Baird, Resa Blatman, Christopher Frost, Johnny Lapham) and live music at Spy Pond Park featuring The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, a group of superb musicians who play the sometimes soulful, sometimes rollicking, music of New Orleans Mardi Gras as well as originals by bandleader Ken Field.
And that’s not all! We have invited Odaiko New England – dynamic Taiko drummers based in Arlington – to kick off the celebration at 3 pm at the entrance to the Minuteman Bikeway near the Kickstand Cafe. At this location at 3:15, meet the artists who have painted 5 new Transformer Boxes: collaborators Laurie Bogdan & Karen McCarthy, Aubrey Cloutier, Chi-Yun Lau, Molly Scannell and Shunsuke Yamaguchi.
Light refreshments will be available, including delicious pizza donated by Za Restaurant.
Many thanks to our generous funders, the ACAC Grants Committee/Arlington Cultural Council (a local agency) and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
