Gallery on the Green presents its 50th Annual Open Juried Exhibition. The selections were made by Lisa Hayes Williams, Associate Curator, New Britain Museum of American Art. As this is an open exhibition, it features the work of artists from all over Connecticut and beyond. On display is fine art in a wide variety of styles, media and subject matter including painting, drawing, photography, ceramics and sculpture. The juror awards prizes totaling more than $1500. Prize funders include Union Savings Bank, Collinsville Savings Society, Charles & Doris Currier Memorial Fund, Mitchell Manchester Fund and Mitchell Auto Group, Maxwell Shepherd Memorial Arts Fund, Inc., Nancy Cloutier Memorial, Peg Douglas Memorial Fund, A & J Quality Roofing, Jerry’s Artarama West Hartford CT, Smith Edwards McCoy Architects, object|resonance, and others.

Also on display is a solo exhibit by Jennifer Knaus, consisting of finely detailed oil and gouache paintings on panel. There is a surrealistic touch to the portraits, landscapes and botanicals, giving them a striking and often haunting beauty. Knaus has exhibited in galleries in Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island and New York, and her work has appeared in newspapers and magazines. Knaus received a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from the University of California, Davis. She teaches art classes at Central Connecticut State University.

An opening reception and awards presentation will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The public is warmly invited to attend this free reception.
