Saturday, August 5th- Gates open at 7pm
Tickets: $10 in Advance @ Hygienic.org

Eight to the Bar’s material is a colorful mix of forties jazz & swing, fifties jump blues, and their own swing-influenced tunes. With their 4-part vocal section, saxophone*, guitar, bass, keyboards and drums, this unique sextet pack a musical and visual wallop not seen in New England since the group’s inception in 1975. Since that time they have released twelve CDs, toured Europe several times and recently had the honor of playing in the Republic of Georgia where they were invited to perform by the U.S. Embassy there. Currently they have just released their 12th CD “Bring It & Swing It!” https://youtu.be/Qy09YsLsHIQ and have been named “Best Band 2014” by Hartford Magazine.

Best known for his sax and flute playing on Van Morrison’s quadruple platinum selling classic album, Moondance, Collin also played in Etta James’ band, opening for the Rolling Stones on their Some Girls tour in 1978. Most recently he served as horn arranger with the late Clarence Clemons & the Red Bank Rockers and has worked with a number of regional bands, notably the Shaboo All Stars. He joined ETTB in 1989 and has recorded and produced the band’s last eight CDs at his own Barnone Studio in Northford, CT. Most recently, his flute solo on Van Morrison’s epic “Moondance” was selected to be in a book called “25 Great Flute Solos”, just released on Hal Leonard Publishing, along with other heavyweights such as Jethro Tull.
