In this show, the artists of Fountain House Gallery address the organic entity that is a city, whether real or imagined. Elements of the urban environment, ranging from striking skylines, refreshing green spaces, and on-the-go city dwellers to teeming construction sites and other challenges of life in a densely populated locale are depicted in works in a variety of mediums.

New “planned cities” have been springing up all over the world during the last 25 years. Old and existing cities constantly have to adapt to population growth or decline, climate change, pollution, transportation issues, a lack of or even at times an abundance of resources. The pandemic brought about changes in the way people live and interact in cities. The exhibition “Cityvision” showcases works that tell a story about what a city is, should be, or can be, whether the city is real, imagined, a dream city, or anywhere in between. The artworks present aspects of cities from its buildings to its people, to its garbage, its animals, its green spaces or lack thereof.
