BMAC recently launched the Climate Change Artist Residency to support artists seeking time and resources to engage with the profound questions and challenges presented by climate change. The inaugural 2022 BMAC Climate Change Artists in Residence are Elizabeth Billings, Evie Lovett, and Andrea Stix Wasserman.

At this online event, Billings, Lovett, and Wasserman will talk with Director of Exhibitions Sarah Freeman about the work they created during the residency and answer questions from the audience.

Coming out of the tradition of ikat weaving, Billings makes art in the public realm. Lovett’s work spans photography, digital media, storytelling, painting, teaching, public art, and community art-making. Wasserman creates public sculptural art installations and works in ink, cyanotype, and wood carving. In 2016, the three of them collaborated on “From the River, To the River,” a series of five art installations around Brattleboro, funded by a National Endowment for the Arts grant. The “Ask the River” project included statewide cyanotype banner-making workshops and a permanent public art installation across the east expanse of the Brattleboro Transportation Center.

In January 2022, Billings, Lovett, and Wasserman were featured on BMAC’s blog in a post about the early stages of their residency.
