THE TRAP
An exhibition of works illustrating the saving power of art
April 10th to May 1st, 2015

ABOUT
Delight, awe, social indignation are only a few of arts effects. Art also has many functions. One of it’s best is that of a liberator for an artist, audience or both. ”THE TRAP” seeks to merge art’s ability to emote and catalyze, resulting in works that celebrate the liberating power of art. This call for artists is open to a variety of mediums such as poetry, film, photography and canvas. Artists will be asked to grapple with and portray the thing or things that once confined them. Protagonists may involve socioeconomic inequality, addiction, racism, physical impairment, death or the fraying of a family unit. Whatever the trap’s particular manifestation may have been, it eventually succumbed to art’s capacity, releasing a cry that crescendoed into a celebration of liberation and freedom. We invite you to illustrate your trap using your medium of choice. Portray your containment, name your protagonist and celebrate your liberation.
