Members Juried 1: Painting and Sculpture is an annual competition and exhibit presented by Concord Art Association that showcases some of the finest work in painting and sculpture in the region. This year, Concord Art received over 400 entries from an “immensely talented group of artists” as juror Lawrence Powers comments. While only open for a few days, this is the first show of the Association’s new director Kate James and already it is drawing critical acclaim from visitors. “This is such a great exhibit; it is like being in a museum,” says Kristina Joyce of Concord. “It is the best MJ1 show that I’ve ever seen and I have been a member for over 30 years. I love the consistent quality of the work, the way it is hung in just the right way, the grouping of paintings and sculpture side by side, and the remarkable diversity of style – traditional and modern—all is of exceptional quality. I would highly recommend it.”
