Nature is everywhere, but we cannot get there. I am interested in how we traverse and gauge experiences of landscape, architecture and history in the age of technology. My studio practice is three-fold. Firstly, in my outdoor studio work I map out and paint with oil sticks on site in the landscape. Secondly, I make traditional oil paintings on canvas and ink drawings on paper. Finally, I use digital 3D lenticular print and optical technologies. These different practices are adapted and exchanged one to the next, similar to the playful inventive use of language. The outdoor studio paintings continue my 30 year practice of working in nature. My oil paintings, and ink paintings, are sourced from my photographs and internet searched. Finally 3D lenticular work, I often combine my outdoor studio landscapes, with aspects of my canvas paintings and images. My 3D lenticular works intersect many planes- physical and virtual, analog and coded, historical and contemporary.
