Wesleyan Potters recognizes and celebrates its pottery, jewelry, and weaving instructors with a gallery show of creative work of nearly twenty teachers. Instructors in each area bring years of experience in technique and creativity, and revel in exploring new ways of expression. Long-time pottery instructor, John Lipsky, came to ceramics via TV production and advertising with a lifetime interest in design and the arts. You can see John’s large functional vessels and a series of bowls in the Faculty Show.

After years of Elementary School teaching around the world, Liz Blodgett now teaches kids’ hand-building pottery classes at Wesleyan Potters. She eagerly shares her enthusiasm with clay and glazes and their possibilities as she feels that with clay, one is part scientist and part artist, merging observation and experimentation with self-expression. The deflected double weave scarves and cowl of instructor Janney Simpson will will be shown. This is a special technique which Janney has mastered and teaches. Anne Graham, another weaving instructor, shares her enthusiasm for weaving with her students, helping them realize their projects and learn new skills. Anne’s contribution to the show is a shadow weave table runner in ombre style.

Wesleyan Potters, a nonprofit cooperative guild founded in 1948, offers year-round classes and workshops in pottery, jewelry, and weaving, and maintains a year-round gallery and shop.
