The Marlborough Arts Center, 231 North Main Street, Marlborough, CT is presenting a multimedia exhibit of artwork by five artists with disabilities beginning on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and continuing every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. through June 24.

These artists have displayed in Galleries throughout Connecticut as well as in Chicago, New York City, and Argentina. This is the first time they have exhibited together, but individually they have received high praise from shows including the Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts and Cultural Center and Wesleyan Potters in Middletown, Art Space in Hartford, Portland Library, Flew the Coop Gallery in New Haven, Kerri Gallery in Willimantic, Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, New York Outsider Art Fairs and progressive venues including Governors Island Art Fair and Umbrella Arts in New York’s East Village.

Kyle O’Neil (2007 graduate) explores texture, color and form while seeking a balance among them in her pottery, paintings and monoprints. Christopher Strauss (2007 graduate) uses small brush strokes with great attention to details and his colors draw the viewer into his paintings. Kerri Quirk, a practicing artist since 1988, has her own studio, and paints in acrylics which seem to shimmer on large canvases. Pablo Salas plans to attend art school after high school graduation this year to continue learning as his love for his native Mexican art evolves. Ashley Estep, an art school graduate, is now specializing in photographing abandoned mental institutions, while enjoying sculpting and painting.

The Marlborough Arts Center is a non-profit regional center for fine arts, performing arts, and fine crafts. Visit website www.marlborougharts.org or call (860) 295-9389 for more information.
