Gallery on the Green presents “Member-Guest Show,”a Solo Show by Joe Hoke and an Exhibit by Hartford Art School Faculty

The main floor of the gallery features newly created work by artist members and invited guest artists. Come view the imaginativeness and talent of diverse local artists in an intimate exhibition space.
Joe Hoke’s solo exhibit on the second floor is entitled, “Lake Champlain Afternoon.” Spectacular paintings capture the ever-changing collision of rain, clouds, fog and sun. Hoke, a graduate of Pittsburgh Art Institute, is an award-winning painter and national award winner for both advertising copywriting and art direction.
Also upstairs is “Counterparts” comprised of work by four artists who as faculty member colleagues at Hartford Art School, University of Hartford have developed a long-term creative friendship.
Ruta Parker has an MFA from Hartford Art School. Her encaustic paintings on panel grow from her interest in experimental visual media and ways of deconstructing modern cul-tural icons.
Terry Donsen Feder is exhibiting drawings and watercolors. She has designed and exe-cuted murals in Nevada, Nantucket, and elsewhere in New England, including a 47 foot mural at Peppercorn’s in Hartford. Her work is in many private and corporate collections and at the New Britain Museum of American Art.
Susan Bogle Finnegan has oil paintings on paper and canvas. She received an MFA from Hartford Art School. She has been a visiting artist and professor at University of Louisville, Ken-tucky and Trinity College. Her work has been widely exhibited in the US a well as in Mainz, Germany.
Mark Snyder’s work is comprised of typographic and image collages. He has an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. His artwork has been exhibited nationally and is held in private and corporate collections throughout the South and in New England.
The opening reception for these exhibitions is Saturday,June 3rd from 6:00-9:00 pm. Gallery receptions with refreshments are free.
The Gallery on the Green, established in 1960, is the longest running artists’ guild in
Connecticut. It is housed in a former schoolhouse (circa 1872). There are three spacious galler-ies and an outdoor sculpture garden. The gallery is located near the intersection of Dowd Ave-nue and Route 44 at 5 Canton Green Road in Canton. Hours are Friday – Sunday, 1-5 pm. The main floor gallery is handicapped accessible.
