In Search of… Associate Members’ Exhibition
Fountain Street Gallery
Jan. 19, 2025 - Feb. 26, 2023
Beginning January 19, Fountain Street will exhibit “In Search of…,” featuring the work of the gallery’s Associate Members. The show, which includes painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, points to the multitude of ways in which artists search, re-search, convey and present their “findings,” be it what they were looking for or what they “found.”
To search is a profoundly artistic endeavor. Marcel Proust, author of the epic novel “In Search of Lost Time,” would argue that our most important findings are not dominated by our conscious search, suggesting instead that the pursuit of lost memories counts only when they arise involuntarily. On the recent 100th anniversary of Proust’s death, artists in this show were asked to fill in the blank and answer, what are they in search of? And how it is manifested in their artistic practice and work?
