Opening reception June 16, 6-7:30 pm, Awards at 6 pm

This art exhibition is all about BLUE and its many shades and meanings: be it blue skies or blue seas, a blue mood, a blue car, anything blue. Come and see what happens to rhythm, harmony, composition, and structure when limited to a mainly monochromatic palette. From 600 applications, 82 pieces of artwork were selected by Randolph Murphy, (past curator FAMSF and Napa Valley Museum) whose knowledge and education in Art History, Architecture, and Museum studies, informed his experience as a curator and art exhibit designer.

Concurrently, in Gallery II is another beautiful exhibition called “Painted Words – Juried Showcase of Lettering Arts” with work selected by juror and calligrapher extraordinaire Carl Rohrs. Expect artwork in both classic/traditional calligraphy and in modern/creative ways of using letters and calligraphic inspired marks in any medium such as painting, drawing, textile art, and mixed media.

In Gallery III: “The Art of the Portrait”, printmaker Pieter Myers brings the classical medium of copper plate photogravure to portraiture. The result is a contemporary interpretation of the portrait, using a blending of photography and intaglio printmaking.

The Show will run through Sunday, July 23.
