In addition to monthly group exhibitions in our main gallery, Gallery U Boutique is now featuring a monthly solo exhibition by local artists on our boutique wall. We are pleased to exhibit the works of Somerset artist Eva Albert as our inaugural artist for our “Art In the Boutique” series. This special exhibit will include selections from Eva’s large scale works as well as work from her New York City street scenes series.

An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2015, from 6-8 PM. All are welcome. Artwork will be exhibited through June 1, 2015. “Real: Works By Members of New Jersey Photography Forum” will be on exhibit in our main gallery.

About EVA ALBERT: Eva Albert was born in Germany and studied art and math at the University of Paderborn, Germany. She continued to develop her painting skills studying at the European Academy of Fine Arts in Treves, Germany. Since her exciting arrival in the U.S. in late 2008, Eva has been inspired by her varied impressions of New York City. It is there that she found the appealing motifs for many of her large scale paintings that show parts of her protagonists.

Albert has won several awards, including the Woldemar-Winkler Award for exceptional achievements in the Arts (a resident internship in Spain; awarded in 2000 by the University of Paderborn) and 1st place in the Fine Arts in Juried Exhibition at the Watchung Arts Center in Watchung, NJ. Some of her works of art are in private and permanent public collections, such as the Collection Bahnhof Püttlingen and the Patton Stiftung Sustainable Trust in Germany.

Her paintings have been exhibited in group shows in Germany, Italy and the U.S.— in Expressions of the Natural World, Monmouth Museum, in Lincroft, NJ; International Juried Exhibition, Center for Contemporary Art, in Bedminster, NJ; Disconnected, Gallery at 14 Maple, in Morristown NJ; 100 Days Art, Women’s Museum, in Bonn, Germany; and Convergences on the Human Being, Ministry of Interior and Sports, in Saarbrücken, Germany.

About GALLERY U: Gallery U Boutique is an extension of Universal Institute, a rehabilitation facility that services adults with traumatic brain injuries (TBI). The venue serves as a vocational training program whose goal is to introduce people with TBI back into the work force and community. Clients at Universal Institute take part in all aspects of running Gallery U Boutique. Vocational, occupational and cognitive therapies are conducted in the back workrooms. Working at Gallery U Boutique provides an opportunity for adults with TBI to rejoin the workforce, engage with the community, learn new skills, and experience the transformative power of art through exposure to existing art and creation of their own artwork.
